I read two out of the three books in the boxset and was not personally a fan of what I read but just because neither story were my cup of tea, doesn't mean it can't be yours.Below, I included a review for each story I read...My two-star review for The Virgin and the BeastI've gone down a weird smut hole and I want out! This is the second book I've read from this author and I thought this one would be better than the first because it’s a beauty and the beast retelling. I’m a HUGE sucker for retellings but it's still a no from me. Sorry! XDXavier, the guy in this book who I'm supposed to pine for, is all sorts of wrong. He's no hero and he's especially not book boyfriend material. No offense to him. Xavier is just not a good guy. He treats Melanie, the protagonist, like an animal and calls her "Pet." Like WTF?! I'm not trying to kink shame but when it's forced on someone and the other party isn't all that willing a participant, it's just degrading and dehumanizing. I felt second-hand embarrassment for Mel SO many times. The way he treated her was just awful.I tried to give him a chance. I did. I mean I read the whole book so I could get to know him better and see why he had a prominent scar on his face and what happened to give him PTSD. It took forever to get to that truth but we finally found out what happened in his past. That bit was interesting. I’ll give the author props for that, BUT one thing that bothered me aside from the way he treated her was that it was never made clear why he struck up a deal with Mel and helped her and her dad in exchange for something he needed.I thought there was going to be way more to that, but honestly, I feel like the author didn't flush that part out very well. Like why choose her? He had money and could have gone so many other routes but for some reason he chose Mel. I didn't understand why he picked her as “the one?” They didn't even know each other and then BAM he struck her with an offer she couldn't refuse. It just made no sense to me. I hate that none of that was really cleared up in the end.After reading the whole book, I feel like I was left with more questions than answers. What’s worse is, the guy had no redeeming qualities and his reasons for doing everything he did were not and could not ever be enough to justify what he did to her and why he used her the way he did. No excuse whatsoever. Mel may have fallen for him, but I didn’t.I’m sure there are people out there who would love this book but I am not one of them. That doesn’t mean you won’t like it, so if this book sounds like your cup of tea, don’t let me put you off it. I’m just giving my honest opinion and explaining why it didn’t work for me personally. If you choose to pick it up, I hope you enjoy it.Overall, I give this book two stars because the author does write well and writes some good steamy scenes but the story itself just didn’t cut it for me. Again, this is my opinion and my opinion alone. Don’t let me deter you if this book interests you......My two-star review for Daddy's Sweet Girl:I honestly don't even know where to start with this book. This is just one of those books that take you on one crazy ride and when you get off you’re just like, “WTF did I just read?” My mind is still reeling after finishing this book. Not gonna lie.I'm a huge sucker for a dark taboo romance but this book was not my cup of tea. That doesn't mean that will be the case for everyone, so don’t let me deter you from reading it if you’re curious. I mean, I did. But I would not recommend this book to just anyone. This story is a bit out there.Daddy’s Sweet Girl is a taboo story about 19-year-old Sarah who gains a new step-dad and step-brother when her mom marries Paul, a man in his forty’s who seems like the sweetest guy and treats her well from the moment they meet. Fast-forward a couple of months and all is good until it isn’t. *insert shifty eyes* Things go from friendly to a little bit more between her, her step-dad (Paul) and her step-brother (Dominick). I expected that from the blurb but eventually things took a turn I did not see coming when Sarah’s step-dad walked in on her and her step-brother the morning after they had been intimate. From that moment on, things got weird. And I mean really weird.***I'm about to spill some spoilers so if you don't want to read any, skip to the last paragraph. You have been warned.***As I was saying, things got weird the morning Sarah's step-dad found her in bed with Dominick, her step-brother. Why you ask? Well, the forty something-year-old dude punished his twenty-four-year-old son with a belt. A BELT! Not only that but then he proceeded to punish Sarah too. To say this book left me speechless is an understatement.This book honestly felt like a slap to the face at times because not only did it get weird real fast, it was also just all over the place. It was confusing at times because the protagonist didn’t know what she wanted or how she felt, and it was also really frustrating because Dominick would not stand up to his dad and let his dad do so much messed up things to Sarah. I don't know. I was honestly frustrated with this story and was worried the protagonist would stay with both her step-dad and step-brother. Thankfully, she realized, in the end, the guy was toxic and just ended up with Dominick. I’m not sure that’s all that better after what he let his dad do to her but I’m glad she at least got away from her crazy step-dad who only married her mom to get with her. Crazy, I know.***Anyway, long story short, this story was not for me, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be for others. Don’t let me stop you from reading if this book sounds like your cup of tea. I’m no one to judge. This review is merely my honest opinion and is not intended to hurt the author or any lover of this story. We all enjoy different things and I have no doubt there is an audience for this story, so if it sounds up your alley, I say go for it. Don’t let me hold you back. Melanie has been fired from her job due to her father's ponzi scheme. She is offered safe haven for her father for a year of living with the benefactor and having his baby. He owns a horse farm that helps rescue horses and puts her to work helping him. They have ups and downs during their time together. This is very well written and the characters are great. Hot and steamy. I didn't want it to end.Miranda has been trained to only enjoy sex with pain. She is tired of pretending to be something she is not. She finds Dylan who has so many of the same tendencies. While working through their relationship the ups and downs are many. Very surprising twist at the end. Very good hot and steamy read.The 3rd story is about Sarah whose mom marries for the third time. She gains a stepfather, Paul and stepbrother, Dominick. She is attracted to both, but more to Dominick. Needless to say she gets to know them really well.
